Linen suits
The cloth that breathes in Mumbai, cut to your pattern.
Linen is honest. It creases, and it tells you so.
Linen is spun from flax, and flax does not forgive. It takes a crease within the hour and keeps it until the next press. That is the whole argument against it, and it is also why a linen suit looks right at a daytime wedding in Mumbai or Alibaug when every wool suit in the room is wilting. The crease is the cloth telling the truth about the heat.
Made to your pattern, linen behaves. A ready linen suit sags because it was never cut for your shoulders; a bespoke one hangs from the shoulder and the creases fall where the body moves, which reads as ease rather than neglect. We cut linen a touch fuller than wool, with a lighter canvas, so the jacket moves with you.
Pure linen, or a blend
If the thought of a crease would spoil the day, choose a linen and wool blend. It keeps most of the breath and far more of the line. For a groom who will be photographed for six hours, we usually say the blend. For a guest, for Goa, for a Sunday lunch, pure linen.
Colours that work here
Sand, stone and oatmeal in the day. Pale blue for a seaside wedding. Tobacco and olive for the man who wants a linen suit that is not the obvious one. Navy linen for the man who wants linen and still wants a suit.

In practice
What we decide together
Weight
Light for the day, a mid-weight for a jacket you will wear in the evening too.
Construction
Half-canvas, soft shoulder, unlined or quarter-lined so the cloth can breathe.
Trousers
Flat front with side adjusters; a linen trouser should never fight a belt.
Care
Pressed with steam, never dry-cleaned more than it needs. We show you how.

Questions
What people ask us
Is a linen suit suitable for a wedding in Mumbai?
For a daytime or seaside wedding, yes, and it is often the most comfortable man in the room. For an evening reception under lights, a light wool or a linen-wool blend photographs better.
Does a bespoke linen suit crease less?
It creases the same; the difference is where. A suit cut to your shoulders falls cleanly, so the creases sit at the elbow and the lap where movement puts them, instead of across the back where a wrong fit puts them.
Linen or cotton for the Mumbai heat?
Linen breathes more and creases more. Cotton is crisper and quieter. For a wedding in the sun, linen; for the office, cotton.
How long does a linen suit take to make?
The same as any bespoke suit: we give you the date at the first meeting, with at least one fitting on you before it is finished.
